Baby Beckham

Dean's friend Beckham was born last Friday, and while Alex and I were able to see him in the hospital, Dean wasn't allowed because of hospital policy. So last night they finally met.

Alex met Beckham's dad, Zach, at Weber where they had a few classes together and got through the MCAT together. They introduced their wives who were named Allyson Paige and Alyson Paige, who became fast friends. We were able to go through pregnancy together and keep each other company when both husbands worked night shifts. It's been fun to experience becoming parents together also. We'll miss them terribly when we part ways to head off to different Med schools, Alex to Temple and Zach to Ohio State.

Here are kiddos, destined to be friends.

(Can't believe how much Dean has grown in 10 weeks! Our little chunky brewster)

Now some of our cute boy, because I can't help it.

Happy (late) Birthday Uncle Joey

Because Dean baby wasn't here to make cute videos on Joel's birthday in April, we decided to let Dean say happy birthday now.

Enjoy Pogie!

(to make this extra cute...when I played this clip for Alex, Dean heard it and started talking back)

Dean videos

Finally caught the 'squeak toy' on camera! Sometimes it's a little louder than this, but you get the idea. The best is when he does it several times in a row and it sounds like he's laughing.

2 months with Dean

These days Dean:
plays
smiles
talks
kicks
holds toys
sleeps
squeaks
gains weight (13lbs now)
sleeps 5-6 hours...every so often

Motherhood is great. He is so sweet and lovable, makes my job easy. There was one week he was fussy. But now he is happy, sleeping, pooping, and getting bigger. I think he gets frustrated that he can't run around and do things on his own. He gets bored easy and loves being outside. I love learning new things about this little d

Playing with his first toy!

The Philadelphia Drakes

You heard right. We are moving to Philadelphia! Alex was accepted to Temple University School of Medicine, so as of the last week of July we will be known as the Philadelphia Drakes... well... for 4 years at least.

Right now we are looking at apartments in Chestnut Hill. It is outside of the city, more in the suburbs. Google maps says it will take Alex 20 minutes to get to school.

We are getting really excited about moving! Philly will be a sweet adventure! Today I did a little research about the area and here is what I found... we will be have shopping close to us, we'll be minutes away from a cute little town with cobbled streets, 30 minutes away from Costco, and get this....15 minutes away from IKEA!!!! I have a feeling Dean and I will end up there a lot when we need to get out of the house.

It will be hard leaving family in Utah and moving EVEN FURTHER from California. I was really hoping med school would help me escape the snow. But 1) it's a great school with a great hospital, and Alex will see a lot of crazy stuff being in the city (hospital has the highest number of penetrating wounds in PA... gunshots and stabbings!)... 2) I'd rather be there, close to NY and all the sights of the East Coast, than Kansas or Nebraska (no offense)... 3) If we're going to go have an adventure, now is the time to do it. So, here we go!

We will miss everyone we are leaving behind. But we'll be back, and there is an open invitation to anyone who wants to come visit the Philadelphia Drakes.
