Dean is 6 months today!

And guess what...Alex pointed out that Dean has now spent as much of his life in Philadelphia as he did in Utah. What?! Time flies.

A lot of growing this month!

We went to the doctors for a check up the first week of October, so Dean was 5 months... here are the stats.

Height: 27 in (88%)
Weight: 19 lbs (89%)
Head: off the charts
Yeah. Crazy.
Yeah, my arms are getting really strong.

Another thing that grew this month.
HAIR

Beginning of October:

End of October:
That is some good work Dean.

Next 'growth'...Rice Cereal
First unsure...but now he is CHAMP. He leans forward toward the spoon and opens up. Sometimes he even grabs my hand and brings it to his mouth.

(Still learning here)

First time eating till it was gone
&
His favorite place to eat
(Yes, his chair doesn't quite fit. It does stay up well, but you'd better believe I spend the whole feeding standing up against that chair)

First cold weather outfits

First Halloween and first pumpkin
Also, notice his index finger. He almost always has it straight like that when he's grabbing at things. So funny.

First time dressing up in costumes.

Love this 6 month boy!

Dad and Dean's new bathtub game

Like I seem to say in every other post, these last 6 months have gone so fast. Then again, it does still seem like he's always been apart of our lives.

But then again, for some reason, today I had a "Wait. I'm a mom?!" moment.

We went to the doctors to get Dean his flu shot. It was the first Dr. appointment Alex hasn't been to. I felt grown up, in charge, I was on top of the up coming appointments, etc. Then walking to the car I looked at the kid, and realized I had done all of that mom stuff normally, naturally, like no big deal. Wait a sec, I'm doing mom stuff....

Hey people, apparently I am a mom.
Hi, my name is Allyson. I am a mom.
Hi, my name is Allyson. Yes, that is spit-up on my shirt.
Hi, my name is Allyson. And yes. That cute chunk sitting on my hip is my kid. Lucky, I know.

Halloween: Family Costumes

We had a lot of different ideas and options. It was hard to decide, and I've already started thinking about next year! The next Halloween will probably be the last one Dean doesn't have an opinion on costumes.

And yes, we coordinated.

Build-A-Bear

Cute idea, not so sure how I felt about the execution. I am proud of the tags, but for some reason didn't like what we (ok, I) wore.
So for the next Halloween celebration we switched up costumes to the way more comfortable and (i think) cute ones.

Beach/surfer babes
Yeah. That's right. We used a beach towel instead of a blanket. Brilliant right?

My new favorite picture ever taken.

Already can't wait for next year.

Week of Costumes: Bloopers

We had some requests to dress Dean up in a different costume every day for the week of Halloween. So every day, we dressed, pictured, then posted on facebook. The costumes were all done with stuff we either made or already had, and most of them were Alex's ideas.

For those who didn't see them, here they are...

And for those of you that did see them, scroll down and check out the ones that didn't make the book.

Monday: Golfer Dean

Tuesday: Batman Dean

Wednesday: Wild Bear (with prey)

Thursday: Charlie Brown

Friday: Dr. Drake Jr

Saturday: Newsie Dean

Sunday: Our lil Garden Gnome

Bloopers

First...the outfit that didn't make it...
Surfer Dean

Now the pictures that didn't...

Yeah...the giraffe is mid-air

I think the outfit and shoes are both meant for 2 yr olds

Meet Mark. One of Dean's staff and #1 groupies.

Well Halloween, you've been fun. Now when we dress up our kid for no reason, we'll just look like crazy people.
