What Dean's Been Up To

Tricks:
Throws trash away, until he figured out he'd rather walk around with it. But then mom takes it and throws it away. I don't know why he keeps trying.
Blows raspberries with his face above the seat of our metal folding chair, creating a puddle of drool which he then smears around with his finger. (I promise I'll wipe them down before you come over and sit on them)
His toddling and waddling is turning into a run. Really starting to pick up speed
Points to his head, ear, eyes, nose, feet, and his favorite...belly. He even lifts up his shirt to show you
LOVES playing with keys and trying to put them in keyholes of doors and mailboxes...
Growing molars. It'll be nice for him to have them...but getting there is tough for everyone
Pulling off pen caps. Guess I can't let him play with the Sharpies anymore...
Flips his binkie without using hands if you put it in upside down
If he wants cheese or a Gogurt he goes to the fridge.
If he wants an Otter Pop (freeze pop for you East Coast people) he goes to the counter next to the fridge and tries to pull himself up. Why? I don't know.
Hi fives sometimes with both hands if you're lucky
Pats and rubs your back
Will spin in circles on command. Sometimes. The problem is that he tries to watch you watch him so it makes turning around difficult

He is still a SUPER picky eater
Started taking up at night again when he started getting molars
At his 15 month Dr appointment he was 2ft 9in (97%) 26.5lbs (90%) and head is 19.76in (still off the charts)
His sense of humor is so cute. He loves laughing and making people laugh. We play a game where he says something and I throw my head back and laugh, then he says something else and we both throw our heads back and laugh, and it goes on and on

In June we were lucky enough to go to the zoo with some friends. It was really hot, but Dean did great! He just sat in the stroller, eating snacks, watching animals.

I love this one because it looks like he actually knows a lion is on the other side of the glass, and he shouldn't be that close to it, and can't figure out why I put him there.

I loved this family of giraffes. Mostly because there was a tall mom, a tall dad, and a tall baby. Maybe giraffes will be our new mascot :)

Dean 11 months

I can't believe our Bean is one month away from being a 1 year old!

Here's what he's done this month:
-finally, finally, finally started eating food! Baby peach puffs, baby cheese puffs, yogurt melts, little bites of whatever i'm eating, and of course...baked lays...
-jabbering (jargoning?)... talking like he's actually saying sentences, but in a foreign language
-cruising along furniture, moving from furniture to furniture
-watching a little Baby Einsteins, mostly when he wakes up at 6am before mom is ready to be functional
-There was a week or so that I would have to give him a chip to keep him still long enough to get his clothes or diaper changed
-road tripped to New Hampshire (post on that coming soon)
-he's started being destructive...hitting toys together, crushing food we give him or hitting it against the table, picking up and throwing things that are in his crawling path
-He is up to 6 teeth! 4 on top, 2 on bottom.
-He's gone through a fussy/yelling phase (probably due to the teething mentioned above). But the boy has definitely learned volume and gets pretty dang loud.

Mostly, it's just been fun to see him go from baby to kid...

He is getting taller, thinning out a little, and I actually see his neck more than just bath time when I would lift his chin to clean his neck.
He plays and explores

Luckily, they like Dean as much as he likes them

Dean turned 10 Months!

(two weeks ago)

I seriously love this age.

Dean is more fun, less work, and we've seen more and more of his personality. He is silly, adventurous, social, flirtatious, needy, and very curious.
He thinks he is a big kid.
He gets into everything now.
He carries toys in his mouth while he crawls.
He walks like a champ with push toys.

He is finally starting to eat big boy food!!!
Though he is non-committal about foods... for example he will only eat a certain food for a few days then refuse to eat it again.
The one food he will ALWAYS eat....

I LOVE this picture.
This is our bedtime routine: tub, lotion, jammies, eat, bed.
Dean hates the lotion/jammies part. So Alex distracts Dean with videos on his phone.
The videos are of Dean. I love that he loves videos of himself.
And, Dean looks so big in this picture.

Dean is 8 months!

Dean spent this month abroad visiting family in California and Utah. Here are some things that happened while we were away:

-Dean got his second tooth


-sat on Santa's lap...twice...and LOVED it.

-Or maybe he just loved getting his picture taken. He's good at that.


-Dean was introduced to the walker and LOVED it. Especially once he learned how to use it.







-Also...introduced to pretzels! He loves them. We gave him the Twisted Honey Wheat ones because they don't dissolve as easily. He had many a pretzel in the high chair and stroller trying to keep him happy while we got stuff done


-still won't eat baby food. Cereal or Gerber food.


-Dean started pulling himself up. The first time he did it was on the faucet of my parent's kitchen sink





-believe it or not he didn't enjoy the wrapping paper from Christmas presents as much as I thought he would. He DID like to chew on the present before it was unwrapped


-peed on Joel and Grandma for old times sake


-He was great on the flight to California, pretty good on the flight to Utah, and as good as he could be on the flight back to Philly considering he was sick


-Yep...Dean got his first fever in Utah. Joined by chest congestion and coughing. This meant lots of sleeping with Dean in our arms.

-The fever gave us a reason to go back to McKay Dee Hospital where Dean was born. Late night visit to the ER...
-First time getting Xrays and a breathing treatment.
-First time being diagnosed... Bronchiolitis

BEST FOR LAST
-I (and a few eye ear witnesses) know Dean uses "mamama" to cry for me specifically.
We had some doubters, but I think they are now convinced.

Yes, I am guilty for once again posting something that will undoubtedly embarrass him someday. But I have to. I'll miss it when it's gone.

Dean is 7 months!

November was our 7th month with Dean and man it went fast. He is so fun, smart, strong, and such a good kid. We love that his personality is becoming more and more obvious. My favorite thing currently is how smiley he is. Even when he's grumpy you can usually get a smile out of him.

Will he be mad at us someday for posting naked bum pictures..? Maybe. Is it cute enough for me not to care..? Definitely.

Things that happened this month:

-The things most people comment on are how smiley and happy he is, and how big he is. "He's only 7 months? Wow, big boy." And we respond proudly... "Yeah"


-We went to the Dr. yesterday for what was supposed to be his 6 month wellness check and here is what we found out....

Weight 20 lbs 9 oz (in the 80%'s...went down a little)
Height 29 in (in the 90%'s)
Head circumference 18.9 in (above 95%...off the charts still)

The Dr is impressed with his development and progress and believes he will be walking at 9 months. Cool!

-Dean cut his first tooth! Yep. His lower left front tooth. You can see it and everything. There's a bump next to it where his second one is making it's way up. Please please please don't work your way out on the plane to California.

-Typical Dean these days. Grabbing at EVERYTHING in (and out of) reach. He grabs toys no problem, transfers them between hands, and sticks everything in his mouth.


-He discovered a new volume. Kid can yell and scream. Again, please don't use that on the plane to California.


-As has been mentioned, we are going to California in a few days for the Holidays. Dean will spend his 8th month in California for Christmas (and most of December), then Utah for the week of New Years. This picture is the night he said goodbye to his med school uncles Dan, Matt, and Mark.This night marked a new thing for the month. It was the first time he was hesitant with other people. He was tired, it had been a long day with short naps, and maybe that's what cause it. But when I handed Dean over to the boys on the couch he pulled out the heartbreaking pouty face and cried! So Alex took him, and he continued to cry. So I took him...he buried his head in my shoulder and whimpered a little, then stopped crying. THE BOY LOVES HIS MOM. And I love that he loves me :)
